Mark and Pat began their missionary journey in May of 2009, raising support for two-plus years. In September 2011, Mark started to serve part-time as an Awana Missionary, transitioning to full-time in 2012. The DeQuoys travel many miles during the year, visiting churches and clubs and doing other Awana-related ministries. In addition, Mark and Pat assist churches in equipping leaders to reach more children and youth with the gospel message.
Today, churches are facing a severe problem. Children are walking away from God and the church. It is estimated that today up to 85% of children will leave the church after completing 12th grade, not returning to worship again. Mark and Pat’s goal with Awana is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Jesus and train them to serve Him by becoming life-long disciples of Jesus Christ.
